Doctor, you are making me upset...

After Christmas I am flying to Liberia for my childhood friend's wedding.  I feel like I have been getting ready for this trip for months.    I bought my flight in the summer because if I would have waited to purchase it around now, it would literally be a small fortune for flights.  I'm staying with her family, so I didn't have to worry about hotel reservations.  But what I wasn't ready for.....(drum roll sound)....were all these shots!  I had to schedule a doctor's visit, and make sure my vaccinations were up to date, and receive additional shots that are required for travel.   Since I have moved to St. Louis I have not seen a doctor....I know I know...so, the good thing is that this has forced me to find a doctor and get a physical.   Anyways, the point of this blog is to tell you about my doctor's visit.  It was kinda cray...lol.

The nurse weighed me, check my pulse and blood pressure.  Then, my doctor comes in the room and asks me a few questions.  He asked me what was my main goal for the visit.  I told him I needed to prepare for my trip to Liberia, so I needed the shots required for travel.   He scoffed and laughed..."why are you going to Liberia??"  I said, "Ummm....because I am going to attend my childhood friend's wedding."  He says, "Ughhh....well, do you really have to go??  You know that's a third world country??  I think you need to pretend like your sick."  I respond, "Sir, i'm from Panama, and I haven't had any issues traveling there."  He responds, "Well, Panama is different."  Then I say to him, "I was already nervous about these shots, and you aren't helping at all."  Then he goes, "awww  (passes me kleenex), I was just joking with you."  I don't know why he passed me the kleenex, but I guess I had that frustrated look in my eye, where I look like i'm going to start crying.

This doctor's visit was pretty dreadful.  Although, he wasn't comforting at the least, Liberia is identified as one of the poorest countries in the world.  But because of this fact, it does not mean I shouldn't go and witness one of my best friend's in one of the most important moments in her life. Also, I get to visit a country that will expand my consciousness of the world and to better understand areas I have never visited before.  It's absolutely wrong to have that outlook on other places in the world!   Between me and you, I am finding another doctor...lol.

As for my friend who is getting married in Liberia, she was one of my bridesmaids, and she flew out to Dominican Republic for my destination wedding, so I definitely have to take my butt out there.  I am sure that it will be an adventure and an experience of a lifetime.  Also, I'll get to get away from the cold for a bit!!  Oh, also, It's a beach wedding!   I can't wait to see one of my best friend's get married and to experience Liberia!!

Let's shift gears and talk about this outfit.  I was looking through Amazon for clothes, and it can be overwhelming at times because of the quantity of products they have.  But for me it's kind of like a treasure hunt, and when I find something, I feel like a winner!  The top is so cute, and the floral embroidery makes it look ethnic and chic.  I paired it with faux leather wine red tights, as that is a top color for the fall and it matched the colors in the top.  Click on the Amazon links below for more info.

I hope you enjoy your week and wish that you don't have to experience any crazy doctor stories like the one I shared!
